Parking by Preikestolen fjellstue (Preikestolen Mountain Lodge) . This is the starting point of the hike to Preikestolen, the Pulpit rock.
MAIN SEASON IS FROM APRIL - SEPTEMBER, and from March public bus transport is possible. This breathtaking scenic point, chosen by Lonely Planet as one of top ten most spectacular viewing points in the world, will mesmerise you!
The hike: you follow a well marked trail from the Preikestolen Fjellstue through different mountain landscapes. The flat, unsecured plateau is approximately 25 x 25 metres and you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Lysefjord and surrounding mountains. You need proper (warm) clothing and shoes (mountain shoes) and do not forget a packed lunch! The way up is partly very steep and rocky. If you have the possibility, you should start your walk in the early morning or in the late afternoon, in order to escape the big mass of tourists. At these times of the day, there are not a lot of people on the Preikestolen and so you can enjoy the view without disruption and take beautiful pictures. Brave persons can charily sit on the edge of the Preikestolen and experience the incredible feeling of having a depth of 600 meters under your feet.
